HoW College set to enjoy tea and cake with the Queen
Heart of Worcestershire College is preparing to have their cake and eat it too as they join Her Royal Highness the Queen at her annual garden party.
Taking place at Buckingham Palace on the 19th May Helen Bessant, Co-ordinator for Professional Courses at HoW College, along with other invited guests, will attend the occasion which dates back to the 1860s when Queen Victoria instituted what were known as 'breakfasts'.
With tea, cakes and a beautiful garden to stroll in, garden parties are among the most relaxed and informal Royal events. Taking the place of presentation parties attended by debutantes, the garden parties have evolved into a way of rewarding and recognising public service and are attended by people from all walks of life.
Speaking about her invitation Helen said:
”'I am delighted to be representing the College at this year's Queen's Garden Party. I feel this is an honour for HoW and a personal privilege.”
Peter Robinson, Assistant Principal at the College, added:
“Helen was chosen as the area she leads, CIPD and Marketing, is acknowledged as excellent on a regular basis not only by the learners themselves but also the professional and awarding bodies that oversee the quality of this provision. Helen will state very quickly that she is part of a team of people that deliver this high quality provision, which is widely known throughout the department. When making the difficult choice of who should represent some of most excellent provision for this event, Helen immediately came to mind.”
