HoW College lecturer adds colour to her future!
Heart of Worcestershire College’s (HoW College) Adult-Education Lecturer, Karen Stone, added some colour to her future as she was awarded the Unison Non-Members Prize for her artwork at the Pastel Society Exhibition based at The Mall Galleries, London.
The annual exhibition celebrates work created in pastel, pencil, chalk and charcoal. Karen, who teaches Sketching & Watercolour at the College, fought off stiff competition to see her piece “Crows with Yellow Square” appear alongside paintings by some of Britain’s leading pastel artists.
Commenting on her success, Karen said:
“I was over the moon when my work was accepted to be displayed in the exhibition, therefore, for it to be awarded the Unison Non-Members Prize is a huge accomplishment, I am absolutely delighted!”
Prior to her work at the College, Karen studied Fine Art at Birmingham School of Art, Birmingham City University and Life Drawing at The Slade School of Art, University College London.
Talking about her College course, she added:
"Sketching and Watercolour is the perfect subject area to both inspire creativity and raise confidence for those wanting an accessible medium in which to work.”
