Former Sport Student “tackles” new challenges as College’s Personal Tutor

Former student, Joe Frampton, returns to Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) as a Personal Tutor.

Joe successfully completed his BTEC Extended Diploma in Coaching and Development and left HoW College in 2011. Progressing on to university, to study a Sports Development and Coaching BA (Hons) Degree, he has made it full circle securing a full-time job as a Personal Tutor in Sport and Engineering.

Talking about his time at the College, Joe said:

“I didn’t have outstanding results at school but my motivation to study and be successful really kicked in at college, mainly due to the staff. At HoW College students are given the tools to study independently with choices of when and what they want to study. The students gain transferrable skills which they will use throughout their lives and I would thoroughly recommend studying here to anyone.”

Joe has always had a passion for sport; playing for the College’s football team and even spent a year travelling around the East Coast of America as a Football Coach. Therefore, coming back to work with sport students comes with a sense of nostalgia.

Reflecting on his experiences, Joe commented:

“I loved playing for the football team at the College and genuinely got on with the lecturers, some of them are still here today! I chose this job because I previously worked as a sports coach in and out of schools, summer camps and weekend clubs. I knew from working and being in education that what I really wanted to do is to work in a further education environment.”

Joe has settled in to his new role at the College really well and we will undoubtedly be seeing great things from him in the future.
