Building future success brick by brick

Former Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) brickwork student Jack Broadbent is laying the foundations for a successful future in the construction industry, after successfully competing in the WorldSkills competition and taking up employment with Bloor Homes.

Jack, who completed his level 2 bricklaying qualification last summer, has since gone on to take third place in the brickwork category at the 2016 WorldSkills competition and has taken up employment with Bloor Homes, before planning to return to college in September to complete a level 3 brickwork apprenticeship.

Speaking about his success so far Jack said:

“The level 1 & 2 brickwork courses at the College gave me the skills and knowledge I needed to work on-site including how to lay bricks and the industry regulations. I’d definitely recommend the course to anyone considering working in the construction industry and I’m really looking forward to returning to complete my level 3 apprenticeship.”

Jack is currently working on-site for Bloor Homes helping to build 250 houses at the Cheltenham development and hopes to eventually progress into a Site Management role.
