Award success for HoW College students

The sun wasn’t the only thing shining over the past two weeks as Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) acknowledged the shining success of their students at the College’s annual Further Education awards.

Hosting two ceremonies; one at Worcestershire County Cricket Club and the second at Artrix in Bromsgrove, students from across the four campuses celebrated their dedication, hard-work and outstanding achievements.

The two evenings saw the College award over 100 students, from across all four campuses, various titles including ‘Outstanding Achievement’, ‘Employability Award’ and ‘Diligence Award’ in their respective areas. The nights also saw the announcement of ‘FE Student of the Year’ which was awarded to sport student Sharna Lucas at the Bromsgrove & Redditch ceremony and art & design student Emma Chamberlain at the Worcester & Malvern ceremony.

Encouraging the students to passionately pursue their dreams the ceremony included speeches from guest speakers, Luke Baldwin, Worcester Warriors Scrum-Half, and Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). Both spoke fervently about their careers to date, the reasons for pursuing their current roles and the importance of education and a passion to succeed.

Speaking about the awards ceremony and the students’ success Stuart Laverick, Principal and CEO, said:

“We are very proud of all of our learners and the achievements they’ve made both academically and personally throughout the last year. The Further Education Awards recognise those students who have made a significantly positive impact on their teachers, peers, staff and the College as a whole. I’d like to once again congratulate each and every one of them on their success.”
