A Flavour for Working Life
Success is top of the menu for Heart of Worcestershire College student Charlotte O’Keeffe who has secured a permanent position as a Catering Assistant with Perry Manor Care Home.
The company provides nursing, residential and respite care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia; therefore, meal times are always a big event with a focus on nutrition and above all taste.
Mike Dearn, General Manager of Perry Manor Care Home, said:
“Charlotte soon became a popular member of our team due to her excellent work ethic and adaptability. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her and she is always willing to help her colleagues and our residents.
She has settled into the role very quickly and she works tirelessly to ensure her work is on time and up to the level required. We hope that Charlotte’s employment with us is long standing and that she continues to develop.”
Charlotte will continue to study at HoW College one day a week alongside her part-time position with the company.
Speaking about her experience Charlotte said:
“The internship has changed my life. It has improved my confidence and given me my own independence.
I have learnt lots of new skills and I love working with my colleagues as they are really supportive and make me laugh!”
Supported internship Supervisor for HoW College, Sara Atkins, added:
“Charlotte has been an outstanding student throughout the Programme. She has applied herself whole heartedly to her studies and also to her internship. Despite battling with health problems she always comes to College with a positive attitude and is a great support to other students on the course.”
With a sprinkling of confidence, a spoonful of enthusiasm and lashings of hard work we have no doubt Charlotte has all the ingredients for a bright future in the Hospitality and Catering industry.
