Before half-term a host of industry experts descended on Heart of Worcestershire College’s (HoW College) Worcester campus to talk to its computing and digital media students about their next steps in the sector.

Visiting the College’s St Andrew’s building on Wednesday 22nd May, guest speakers included: Craig Matthews from Practicce, Callum Reid from Titania, Luke Hopkins from Shedeo and representatives from Sanctuary Housing.

Among the visitors was former HoW College student, James Burford.  Since leaving college James has secured a position at Capgemini UK, a global leader in consulting, technology services and digital transformation.

Accompanied by his colleague, Will Crewe, James spoke to the students about his journey after college and how he secured a job at an international company.

Talking about the day, James said:

“I enjoyed returning to college after five years to deliver a careers presentation to inspire current students. It was also a great opportunity to see the new Centre of Digital Engineering (CODE) facilities.”

The visit was part of the student’s Employability Unit and was designed to give them and insight into digital careers and help them prepare for future employment.

HoW College prides itself on its ability to offer students a number of opportunities to enhance their college based learning by including trips, work experience and guest speakers.
