Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) construction student, Joe Cook, “tackles” his future head on as he is selected to compete for England Youth under 21s in shore fishing.

For the past three years, Joe has competed at European Open weekends and also taken part in the nationals for Evesham Youth.

Last year, Joe applied to the talent pathway for the second time through the Angling Trust and attended four weekends of successful trials, alongside 30 others. He will now head to Ireland in July followed by Italy in October to represent England.

Talking about the sport, Joe said:

“When I received the letter to tell me I had made it on to the team I was over the moon. That was absolutely the best day of my life.”

Joe is currently studying his Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery at the College’s Malvern campus.

Talking about the course, Joe commented:

“The College has a relaxed atmosphere and I get a lot of support off my tutors, Martin and Pete, as well as my peers.

I would definitely recommend the College as it’s a really friendly place to learn, everyone gets along with each other.”

We wish Joe the best of luck as he goes off to compete and we’re “shore” he will do extremely well.
