Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement - Level 3 Award
If you deliver vocational qualifications which includes an element of applied learning; such as an Award/Certificate/Diploma (NVQ) or a BTEC First then you need to obtain this qualification.
The level 3 Certificate in Assessing the Quality of Assessment (QCF) has replaced the A1 and A2 qualification and is the new qualification for assessors.
This award provides an introduction to skills, qualities and knowledge that may be required for employment in a particular role in a vocational sector.
It is ideal for those who assess in a workshop or classroom-base environment using assessment methods such as; simulations, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case-studies and recognising prior learning.
The qualification will cover the principles and practices of assessment and how to assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.
You must be able to demonstrate vocational competence within the area you propose to assess and assure quality of assessment. You will need access to a qualified assessor, with appropriate vocational competence, who is willing to counter-sign your assessments and two candidates whose work you will be assessing and assuring.
How will I be assessed?
This is a competence based qualification therefore there is the expectation that you will be working/volunteering a minimum of 10 hours per week within an assessment role. If you are not currently working within this area it would be worthwhile considering a knowledge based qualification instead.
